Draftsperson/Designer


Location: Okanagan, BC

Salary: $60,000 - $80,000 per year

Our client, a well-established Okanagan Valley homebuilder is seeking a skilled Draftsperson/Designer with 3D design capability to join their team. This full-time role is central to creating innovative home models, customizing designs for clients, and ensuring timely approvals through close collaboration with engineers, developers, suppliers, and municipal staff.
The ideal candidate will bring creativity, technical expertise, and strong collaboration skills to the role. You will be responsible for developing new home designs, producing high-quality 3D renderings and visualizations, and supporting sales and construction teams with accurate, build-ready drawings.

Responsibilities

  • Design new home models and customize existing plans to meet customer requests, code changes, and market trends.

  • Produce 3D renderings and visualizations for client presentations and sales support.

  • Prepare and submit building permit applications, including drawings and required documentation.

  • Collaborate with structural engineers, truss designers, suppliers, developers, and municipal staff to ensure timely approvals.

  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of building codes, zoning ordinances, and construction best practices.

  • Support construction teams by providing accurate and detailed build-ready drawings.

  • Partner with suppliers to improve value engineering, energy efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.

  • Stay informed on new building materials, technologies, and design trends.

  • Contribute to a positive, collaborative, and safe work environment.

Requirements:

  • Diploma or degree in Architectural Technology, Drafting, or related field.

  • Strong knowledge of residential building codes, zoning regulations, and construction practices.

  • Proficiency with design and drafting software such as Revit, SketchUp, or other 3D modeling tools.

  • Proven ability to produce high-quality 3D renderings and visual presentations.

  • Experience preparing building permit drawings and navigating municipal approval processes.

  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.

  • Previous experience in residential homebuilding or design is a strong asset.
