Senior Bookkeeper
Location: Remote Okanagan Area

Salary: $70,000 - $80,000 per year
KAN Recruitment is hiring a Senior Bookkeeper for an established and growing organization in Kelowna. This role suits an accounting professional who is comfortable managing the books and payroll for several related companies, improving processes, and working closely with an ownership team.
The position is fully remote, with occasional in-person meetings in the Kelowna area. Applicants must live in the Okanagan; preference will be given to candidates based in Kelowna.
Responsibilities:
Oversee full-cycle bookkeeping for multiple corporations, including general ledger entries, reconciliations, intercompany transactions, and month-end close.
Manage accounts payable and receivable, invoicing, payments, collections, vendor records, and commission verification.
Process payroll for hourly and salaried employees across multiple companies, including unionized and non-union teams.
Complete payroll remittances, year-end payroll reporting, and required GST, PST, WorkSafeBC, and Employer Health Tax filings.
Prepare financial reports, payroll summaries, and other information requested by management.
Maintain organized accounting records and supporting documentation.
Strengthen accounting procedures, workflows, and internal controls.
Work with leadership, external accountants, payroll providers, and government agencies on accounting and compliance matters.
Support system improvements and other accounting projects.
Requirements:
At least five years of full-cycle bookkeeping or accounting experience.
At least three years of payroll experience, which is mandatory.
Strong knowledge of Canadian payroll, GST/PST, WorkSafeBC, EHT, and year-end payroll requirements.
Proficiency with QuickBooks Online, Sage, or comparable accounting software, plus Google Workspace and Microsoft 365.
Strong organizational and analytical skills, sound judgment, and a commitment to accuracy and confidentiality.
Experience accounting for multiple companies or entities, strongly preferred.
Experience with union payroll and benefits administration, considered an asset.
A diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration, considered an asset.
You’ll need a reliable home office and high-speed internet. The role includes regular virtual meetings, and occasional overtime may be required during payroll, month-end, and year-end periods.
