Bookkeeper
Location: Okanagan, BC (Work from Home Remote)

Salary: $65,000 - $72,000 per year
KAN Recruitment is currently hiring a Bookkeeper for a well-established and growing client based in Kelowna, BC. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced accounting professional who enjoys managing full-cycle bookkeeping across multiple companies while working in a flexible remote environment.
Reporting to the ownership team, the Bookkeeper will be responsible for overseeing full-cycle bookkeeping, payroll, financial compliance, and day-to-day accounting operations for a group of related corporations. This position requires exceptional organizational skills, strong technical accounting knowledge, and the ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining a high level of accuracy and confidentiality.
Responsibilities:
Manage full-cycle bookkeeping for multiple corporations, including general ledger maintenance, journal entries, reconciliations, intercompany transactions, and month-end processes.
Process accounts payable and accounts receivable, including invoicing, payment processing, collections, vendor management, and commission verification.
Prepare and process payroll for multiple companies, including hourly, salaried, unionized, and non-union employees, while ensuring compliance with all payroll remittances and year-end reporting requirements.
Prepare and file GST, PST, payroll remittances, WorkSafeBC, Employer Health Tax (EHT), and other required government filings.
Produce financial reports, payroll summaries, and other management reporting to support business operations and decision-making.
Maintain accurate accounting records, digital filing systems, and supporting documentation while ensuring compliance with company policies and audit requirements.
Develop and improve accounting procedures, workflows, and internal controls to increase efficiency and accuracy.
Collaborate with management, external accountants, payroll providers, and government agencies on financial and compliance matters.
Provide support for the company's U.S. accounting and compliance requirements as needed until those responsibilities transition to an external provider.
Assist with special projects, system improvements, and other accounting initiatives as required.
Requirements:
Diploma or Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration.
Minimum five years of full-cycle bookkeeping or accounting experience.
Experience working with multiple companies or entities is strongly preferred.
Strong knowledge of Canadian payroll, GST/PST, WorkSafeBC, Employer Health Tax (EHT), and year-end payroll requirements.
Experience with union payroll and benefits administration is considered an asset.
Proficiency with QuickBooks Online, Sage, or similar accounting software.
Strong working knowledge of Google Workspace and Microsoft 365.
Excellent analytical, organizational, and time-management skills.
Exceptional attention to detail, accuracy, and confidentiality.
Ability to manage competing priorities and consistently meet deadlines.
Working Conditions:
Fully remote position with occasional in-person meetings in the Kelowna area.
Candidates must reside in the Okanagan, with preference given to those located in Kelowna.
A reliable home office setup with high-speed internet is required.
Occasional overtime may be required during payroll processing, month-end, and year-end.
Regular participation in virtual meetings with leadership and management teams is expected.
