PROJECT MANAGER


Location: Kelowna, BC

Position Status: OPEN

Salary: $90,000 - $110,00 a year plus company vehicle

KAN Recruitment is proud to partner with a reputable and expanding commercial construction company in Kelowna that is seeking a results-driven Operations Project Manager. This is a senior, hands-on position ideal for a professional who thrives across project management, estimating, client engagement, and operational leadership.

The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in winning work, planning projects, leading execution, and maintaining long-term client relationships, managing projects from early client engagement and estimating through construction and closeout while ensuring strong financial performance and exceptional service delivery.

Responsibilities:

Project Management & Operations

  • Provide leadership and oversight for multiple projects from scope development through closeout

  • Plan, organize, and coordinate internal teams, subcontractors, suppliers, and stakeholders

  • Develop and manage schedules, budgets, and execution plans

  • Ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to quality standards

  • Oversee reporting, forecasting, project controls, and performance tracking

Estimating & Pre-Construction

  • Prepare detailed estimates for labor, materials, equipment, and subcontracted work

  • Review drawings, specifications, and site conditions to define complete scopes

  • Lead development of bid packages, proposals, and pricing strategies

  • Identify risks, assumptions, exclusions, and value-engineering opportunities

  • Support contract negotiations and scope clarifications

Sales & Business Development

  • Engage with new and existing clients to support business growth

  • Participate in client meetings, presentations, and RFP responses

  • Build strong relationships with clients, property managers, and stakeholders

  • Identify opportunities for repeat business and long-term partnerships

  • Represent the organization professionally in the marketplace

Client Experience & Customer Service

  • Act as the primary client contact throughout the project lifecycle

  • Provide clear, proactive communication regarding scope, schedule, and costs

  • Manage expectations and resolve issues efficiently and professionally

  • Deliver an experience that drives repeat business and referrals

Contracts, Cost Control & Change Management

  • Manage contracts, billing, cost controls, and financial reporting

  • Monitor budgets, purchase orders, change orders, invoices, and forecasts

  • Apply strong change management processes to protect margins

  • Lead risk identification and mitigation strategies

Team Leadership & Coordination

  • Lead and coordinate superintendents, crews, and subcontractors

  • Support workforce planning and scheduling

  • Assist with recruitment and onboarding as needed

  • Promote accountability, collaboration, and a strong safety culture

Quality, Safety & Closeout

  • Ensure compliance with quality standards, safety requirements, and turnover expectations

  • Review designs for constructability and scope alignment

  • Manage closeout documentation, deficiencies, and final handover

Requirements:

  • 3+ years of construction project management experience (commercial or industrial preferred)

  • Experience in estimating, client-facing sales, and customer service

  • Strong knowledge of construction contracts, cost controls, and project financials

  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships and support revenue growth

  • Excellent leadership, communication, and negotiation skills

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)

  • PMP designation considered an asset
